The Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, located at the National Sport Complex. The National Sport Complex housing a numbers of stadium, parks, and courts for different type of sport. While it’s open to the public daily, operational hours depend on the event that are taking place at the venue’s many stadiums and sports centres. The Bukit Jalil stadium was built for the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
For me, i have been there for numerous time watching football game and still excited me especially during full house game. The yellow black seat painted have give the moral support for the players during game as the color matching with their jersey.
The biggest stadium within this complex is the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, which accommodates up to 100,000 people at a time. However, for the safety precaution it only can be open to capacity of 87,411 making it 2nd biggest in Southeast Asia and 11th largest football stadium in world. It is home venue for the Malaysia national football team known as Malaysian Tiger.
For now Bukit Jalil stadium currently undergoing major renovation at a combined cost of RM 1.34 billion as a part of KL Sport City project. The 1 phase of renovation have been completed ahead for the 2017 SEA Games at Kuala Lumpur, with a new Populous-designed facade that covers the exterior of the stadium with twisted vertical louvres which are also LED-lighted as well as recolouring the seats to a yellow-black design and upgraded facilities. The phase 2 is currently running where they will add a retractable roof, retractable seats, comfort ventilation and new sports and lifestyle facilities.
As a Malaysian, i feel very proud to has this stadium in my country. The stadium seem to be iconic for me as it will recognize Malaysia as the country that has very big and beautiful stadium structure. Did you know that Bukit Jalil stadium has been awarded as the "Stadium of the year" at the World Stadium Congress Awards 2018, held at the Amsterdam Arena.
